It never too late to leave a bad situation
Star Rating - 8/14/2022
When it comes to standard of living, neighborhoods, safety, schools, wage earners and tax dollar contributing citizens Mishawaka hands down, will always made better choices than South Bend. South Bend does not learn from their mistakes. South Bend will brag about tearing down 1000 housing in 1000 days as a way of patting themselves on the back when all they have accomplished is to remove 1000 homes from the housing market; leaving 1000 vacant lots to maintain. Mishawaka takes action before it becomes too late. South Bend takes every opportunity to be known as the home of Notre Dame. While Notre Dame rarely acknowledges that South Bend exists. South Bend will continue to collect non-productive residents and continue to expect the community's shrinking number of income-tax contributors to pay more and more every year resulting in less and less improvements to the community. Being known for having a great homeless shelter drawing residents from all over the US is not something to be proud of South Bend. I have never regretted leaving.

Mishawaka has a Mayberry complex. People there think that they have no crime, even though is it documented that the Mishawaka Police Department has a reputation for under reporting crime. Mishawaka has the same problems as South Bend. The school district has said that their referendum needed to be passed because there are more rentals than owned homes in the city. Mishawaka (based on comments heard at my barbershop and other local businesses) is racist as hell. They like to blame their problems on SoUtH BeNd, while refusing to realize that their own home grown criminals have been doing their thing since the beginnings of the city. Mishawaka's economy is largely retail based. Is South Bend perfect? Absolutely not. There is a LOT that needs to be addressed. However, SB police have even said that 95% of the crime issues occur in a 2 square mile are of a 48 square mile city, and that if they could wholesale round up about 50 people, the crime rate would drop dramatically. Mishawaka has a weird superiority complex that is laughable at best. I had more problems with crime in Mishawaka than I do on the south side of SB, where I now live.
